USE OF COOKIES

What is a cookie?

Cookies are short text files that are downloaded to the user’s device when they visit a website. At each subsequent visit, the cookies are sent back to the website that originated them (first-party cookies) or to another site that recognizes them (third-party cookies). Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a user’s device. They have different purposes such as, for example, to allow you to navigate between pages efficiently, remember your favorite sites and, in general, improve the browsing experience. They also help ensure that the advertising content displayed online is more targeted to the User and to her interests. In general, cookies can be completely disabled in your browser at any time.

Categories of cookies

Based on the function and purpose of use, cookies can be divided into four categories *: essential cookies (strictly necessary), performance cookies, functionality cookies and marketing cookies.

Essential cookies: allow you to move around a website and use its functions. In the absence of these cookies, the requested services cannot be provided. An example is the memorization of the actions to return to the previous pages within the same session.

Performance cookies: they collect information on the use of a website by visitors, for example the most visited pages and the possible display of site error messages. These cookies do not collect information that can lead to visitor profiling. All the information obtained is used exclusively to improve the functioning of the site and at the same time the User experience.

Functionality cookies: allow the site to remember the User’s choices (such as his name, language and the geographic region in which he is located) and to provide advanced and more personalized functions. They can also be used to provide certain services requested by the User, such as playing a video.

Marketing cookies: are used to provide more targeted advertising content to the User and to her interests.
